It\u2019s always been a case of either <em>all<\/em> or <em>nothing whatsoever<\/em>. Or plenty of forbidden items in terms of food and feelings of guilt if you\u2019ve \u2018sinned\u2019 (that word is also a typical expression, by the way, if you \u2018happened\u2019 to eat something you actually like but forbid yourself to enjoy).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How is it possible to live in a slightly greyer zone? To have more freedom as regards what one eats or thinks?\u00a0<strong>Here are my suggestions!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2705<strong>Stop making ever stricter rules.<\/strong>Feelings and thoughts such as <em>\u2018I don\u2019t want this enough\u2019 <\/em>or <em>&#8216;I must be healthier and stricter about what I eat\u2019<\/em> come up every time you feel you\u2019ve failed. You are stricter all the time about what you eat and have more and more rules governing the food you eat.\u00a0<em>And yet<\/em> nothing gets any better. It\u2019s when we try too hard that things fall apart. The more we chase particular results, the further away they feel.\u00a0<strong>Starting from a position of desperation always leads to extreme methods.<\/strong>\u00a0You have to work on easing up on the rules and simplifying things. \u2018Good enough\u2019 is what you should strive for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2705<strong>\u00a0Every meal means a fresh start.<\/strong>There are no good days and bad days \u2013 there are just days. Everything we do depends on the choices we make. We make a choice about everything \u2013 absolutely everything. Maybe you\u2019re used to thinking like this: <em>\u2018Today isn\u2019t a good day \u2013 I may as well carry on eating rubbish, I\u2019ve had it anyway\u2019.<\/em> You are making a choice to carry on eating rubbish. Or you can make sure that your next meal is exactly as normal. You can choose to break the chain of old patterns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2705<strong>Overeating vs undereating.\u00a0<\/strong>This is more common than many people think. The days consist of a lot of food or a little food. A little food to make up for a lot of food the day before. And so it goes on. Focus instead on a smoother food flow without having to make up for anything, whether it\u2019s an exercise day or a non-exercise day, and whether or not you\u2019re sick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2705<strong>\u00a0Little things count.\u00a0<\/strong>Focus on one meal at a time and one exercise session at a time!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Many people have been there, and a number of them have got stuck and are unable to think in any other way.
