How do you combined social events with a healthy lifestyle?\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u00a0definitely\u00a0do\u00a0not want\u00a0food\u00a0to be\u00a0associated\u00a0with guilt\u00a0and filled with prohibitions. The stricter we eat, the harder\u00a0the\u00a0setbacks.\u00a0The more junk food we allow ourselves, the more our willpower is tested.\u00a0We must\u00a0learn to\u00a0find a\u00a0middle ground.\u00a0A\u00a0middle ground can\u00a0still\u00a0give\u00a0us the results we want, even though it sounds\u00a0too good to be true!\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s not get wedged\u00a0between\u00a0two evils,\u00a0dieting\u00a0or\u00a0binge eating in some form. Binge eating\u00a0doesn\u2019t have to manifest itself as a\u00a0daily event; it\u00a0can appear\u00a0at\u00a0the\u00a0weekend\u00a0or\u00a0after a couple of months\u00a0of being\u00a0\u201cgood\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Enter the<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>90\/10 rule!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If we\u00a0look\u00a0at a\u00a0whole year \u2013 it consists of 52 weeks.\u00a0In that year,\u00a0we\u00a0have\u00a0festivities\u00a0like Christmas, New Year, Easter, birthdays, weddings, holidays,\u00a0nights out, etc. Let\u2019s say these 52 weeks\u00a0is\u00a0100%. The\u00a0events\u00a0mentioned are\u00a0approximately\u00a010% of these 52 weeks. Let\u2019s say\u00a0five\u00a0weeks in total.\u00a0This is\u00a0the 90\/10 rule!\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>90% of the time you should eat and exercise as best you can and 10% of the time\u00a0when you\u00a0have something to celebrate,\u00a0you can eat\u00a0what you like.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Or take a week with 35-42 meals (depending on whether you eat 5 or 6\u00a0times\/day).\u00a0Out of these,\u00a0you can eat what you want in 3 of those meals, which corresponds to a dinner out.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>10% will never affect<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>the<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>90%. It is the 90% that you get your result.<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This rule is easy to handle\u00a0because\u00a0it is natural and follows the events of life. No hassle and no restrictions.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Some tips along the way:<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Make sure you like the food you eat. Cravings\u00a0emerge\u00a0when we don\u2019t like what we eat and\u00a0eat to be \u201cgood\u201d and thoughts such as\u00a0\u201csoon\u00a0this is all\u00a0over,\u00a0and I can return to my old life\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stop\u00a0labelling\u00a0food\u00a0as\u00a0\u201cgood\u201d\u00a0or \u201cbad\u201d. The problem with \u201cbad food\u201d is that we\u00a0generally crave more of\u00a0this\u00a0particular food\u00a0and if we\u00a0\u201caccidentally\u201d\u00a0eat it, feelings of guilt\u00a0are not unusual. Bad vs good creates a black and white mindset. We judge\u00a0ourselves based on how we eat.\u00a0Have a think\u00a0about how certain foods\u00a0make you feel.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Find a\u00a0balance\u00a0where you don\u2019t feel too limited\u00a0or\u00a0strict. Eat, feel strong, energetic and\u00a0avoid\u00a0going\u00a0all-in\u00a0on\u00a0the weekends. If you\u00a0prioritise\u00a0eating yourself full on nutritious food\u00a0primarily, you naturally steer away from junk food. You simply\u00a0don\u2019t have room for\u00a0it.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All or nothing leads to\u2026 nothing.
